Camp Committee

We are a group of enthusiastic volunteers who work behind the scenes before, during and after the summer to make sure that Camp Tavor is the most wonderful experience for our children.

The main purpose of the Tavor Camp Committee is to conduct the business of camp, fiscally and legally, and to make certain that Tavor has wonderful facilities; and to make sure Tavor has enough funds and a good governance structure to enable the professional staff (tzevet) to create the unique Habonim Dror Jewish camp experience.

We consist of 21 current and former parents, past campers and tzevet (staff). We meet at least six times a year and participate in five full time and four ad hoc subcommittees. The subcommittees include marketing, facilities, fund raising, alumni relations, grant writing, camp scholarships, and governance. All of our subcommittees are open to interested parents and friends of Tavor.

If you want to find out more about joining a sub-committee or the Camp Committee, please contact Michael Appel (appelkraut@tds.net) or Michael Simon (simonm@karmanos.org).

Our Vision- Grow Tavor, Stay Tavor

Tavor’s vision is to nurture the caring, creativity, and confidence that will sustain both the individual and the Jewish people of the next generation. We want to grow the number of kids who experience our unique culture while not losing the intimacy of a small camp. We will continue to cultivate youth leadership and self empowerment through continuing our longstanding partnership with the worldwide Habonim Dror Youth Movement. This is carried out through year-round, youth-led programming and through our continuing association with Israel.
