Off-Site Trips
Leaving the Tavor campsite is always an exciting event, even if just for an hour!
Tiyul (Camping Trip)
All campers participate in an overnight camping trip during their session. Older campers (Bonim and up) travel offsite for this trip. Past trips have included hiking and swimming at the Indiana Dunes, biking and swimming in South Haven, MI, and canoeing on the Kalamazoo River. Younger campers (Amelim and Chotrim) spend their overnight at one of our two on site camping areas.
Tikkun Olam (Service Projects)
Each session campers participate in a Tikkun Olam project. Before the summer begins, counselors are already working with local charities and organizations in the Three Rivers area to prepare for our “Tikkun Olam Day.” Campers are split up by age group and travel to places such as nursing homes, community gardens, animal shelters, and food banks. The older campers often work with a local children’s group planning a day of activities for underprivileged or handicapped kids. This is a special time for our campers to learn more about and connect with our local community and to lend a hand to those in need.
Just for Fun
Other off-site trips can include visiting our local ice cream shop, Goldies; watching fireworks in town on the 4th of July; canoeing across Lake Kaiser to pick fresh strawberries; or walking to the local elementary school to enjoy the playground.
