Executive Director

Shelley has worked for Tavor since 2000 beginning as the Camp Business Manager and eventually becoming the Executive Director. She originally is from The Bronx, New York growing up in the Zionist Youth Movement world (Habonim, Young Judaea & Hashomir) in the late 60’s and early 70’s. She has a BS in Recreational Education from Lehman College and attended camp from age 9-22 when she then went on Aliyah in ’75 and became a member of Kibbutz Gezer. In 1988 she returned to the USA with her family and settled in the Midwest working first for the Jewish Community Center in Milwaukee Wisconsin and then opening Shelley’s Deliworks, a glat kosher deli, the first of it’s kind in Milwaukee.

In the summer you can find her as the ‘adult’ figure in Habonim-Dror Camp Tavor a youth movement camp, prominently working in the foreground guiding and coalescing the multi facets of camp life. Under her stewardship Tavor has become ACA accredited, hired a full time Outreach manager and with the collaboration of Tavors’ strong volunteer base, the Grinspoon Institute and the Foundation for Jewish Camp helped run a very successful capital campaign. She is a graduate of the ELI (Executive Leadership Institute) a 15-month program sponsored by the Foundation of Jewish Camp for staff development.

Outreach Manager

After spending 14 summers at camps as both a camper and staff member Brittany Abramowicz could not be more excited to be a part of Camp Tavor as the year round Outreach Manager. Brittany earned her degree in Recreation Sport and Tourism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While in college she was very active in Hillel and served as President. After graduation she spent time working and studying in Eilat, Israel. Brittany is thrilled to be working for an organization that helps people understand their Jewish identity and connect to the state of Israel.
