Being Green
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Organic Farm
At Camp Tavor the Chava or Organic Farm is one of the most important aspects at of the community. Many of the fresh vegetable we eat at camp are home grown. A major emphasis is place on composting which was use to help the farm flourish. Many Jewish values can be taught through farming. Campers get an understand of the process food goes through before it get to their plate. This Fall the bulk of our harvest was donated to people in need in the community.
Beit Omanut
Our Beit Omanut (Art Building) is a special place at Camp Tavor. Art is used in nearly all parts of the day. Campers paint murals during avodah (community projects), use art as an educational learning tool in group activities, and even decorate our dining hall for Shabbat each week. Recently the Beit Omanut has taken on another role at Tavor: recycling. One of our special interest groups, called “chug Jart” (special interest group Junk-Art) discusses recycling and waste and uses various “junk” around camp to create new pieces of artwork.
